The Eclipse at Gorges is a three-day event focusing on the natural, fun and scientific aspects of the total solar eclipse. Gorges State Park is the only park in the NC park system to be in the direct path of totality, so it will receive about 2 minutes, 30 seconds of total darkness. August 19 is Nature Day with Ranger- and naturalist-directed hikes. August 20 is Fun Day with exhibitors, food trucks, music, children activities and programs focused on the next day's celestial wonder. August 21 is Eclipse Day with structured plans for parking, crowd control, safety, music, food trucks and trained volunteers to orient visitors and to provide information to them about the eclipse.
